FAQ

The most important questions and answers

There are a lot of questions before ordering AirCine or during the installation:

Are there any limitations for the weapons?
No, so far all air rifles, air pistols and airsoft weapons worked. Either if you shoot with lead bullets or BBs, rifles or pistols, pressurized air, spring or CO2, with or without silencer.

What material do i need to use as backplane?
Any soft material that does not transmit or absorb sound can be used. A very good material is soft PVC rubber, 3mm. It catches all bullets up to 7.5 Joule. It can be ordered at www.modulor.de, the part number is 134027L.

Do i need a special projector? What are the minimum requirements?
You dont need a high resolution projector. Even 800x600 (SVGA) pixels have at a frame size of 1,0x1,5 meters a pixel size of 1.5 mm. This is definitely enough for a shooting distance of 10 meters. You just nned to ensure that the amount of light is enough for your environment. Projectors with this resolution are currently available for less than 300 Euro.

Why paper as projection surface? Isnt that expensive after a while?
Paper is the best material: It is cheap and has a good projection surface. Even if you replace the paper after 200 impacts (which is far too early) you would pay more mony for ammunition than for paper. Paper is available as plotter paper rolls or as sheets of poster paper. It can be ordered at any print shop.

Why is AirCine not sold as complete system including Frame, Projector etc.?
The frame material is too cheap to be sent as a packet, this would cost more than the material itself. And every user needs a different frame: size, wallmounted or standing free, paper sheets or paper roll, ...
And the prices for projectors and PCs are changing so fast, that we cannot follow this market.

What is the price for a software update?
New software versions are available for free for all customers. You can download the newest version on the download page.

How often are new versions available?
Whenever there are new modules or functions available. Usually there are new versions available every 4 months.
Most ideas for new training activities or games come from users. Your idea might be realized soon!

Does the software work with Windows Vista or Windows 7, 8 or 10?
Yes, but you have to run it in “XP compatibility” mode and give administrator rights. This is neccessary because the software is designed to run on old PCs working with Windows 2000 or Windows XP because many customers use old PCs for their shooting cinema.
